The Bomb

Be on the ready.  I'm working on a new set of books.

The set up-

Cage on Duchamp-

He requires that we know that being an artist isn’t child’s play: equivalent in difficulty- surely- to playing chess.  Furthermore a work of our art is not ours alone but belongs also to the opponent who’s there to the end.

The follow through-

The Lottery

Lucky Sevens (Bryant White and Gold)
2008, 3 color screenprint with scratch off ink
edition of 10, 20 1/4 x 30 inches

published by Forth Estate printed at Axelle Editions

Glen Baldridge's new show at Klaus Von Nichtssagend Gallery is the winning ticket. If you did not see the opening last Friday night that means you might be able to see the work when you go to Klaus in the next week. As usual Glen pulls out a huge crowd and never lets you down. This show is a mix of sculpture and prints demonstrating the artist's mastery with materials.
This woodcut, Double Dilly, co-published by Forth Estate and Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop is one of the works in the show, priced at a highly collectable level and shamelessly plugged here.  They have been moving out the door so don't wait.

A few notes from a notable prose peddler-

There's one thing in this world which isn't ever cheap.  That' a coffin.  There's one thing in this world which a person don't ever try to jew you down on.  That's a coffin.  There's one thing in this world which a person don't say--"I'll look around a little, and if I find I can't do better I'll come back and take it."  That's a coffin.  There's one thing in this world which a person won't take in pine if he can go walnut; and won't take in walnut if he can go mahogany; and won't take in mahogany if he can go an iron casket with silver door-plate and bronze handles.  That's a coffin.  And there's one thing in this world which you don't have to worry around after a person to get him to pay for.  And that's a coffin.  Undertaking?-- why it's the dead surest business in Christendom, and the nobbiest."
